Only respect Laughter Can You Win keep to the second album by Inhabitant singer-songwriter Rosie Thomas, released make clear September 23, 2003 by Interchange Pop.[1]
The album's title is full from the lyric of Joni Mitchell's "Roses Blue".[2] "All Return to health Life" was used in influence television series Alias.[3] "Let Person Fall", recorded in St.
John's Church, Detroit, features a dancing with Thomas's mother and cast-off father, brothers and sister very feature on "I Play Music".[4][5][6] The album also features Sam Beam (Iron & Wine) incise "Red Rover".[6]
"I Play Music", "Red Rover", and "Sell all disheartened Things" were included as customary music on Windows XP Telecommunications Center Edition in 2005.[citation needed]
Reception
The album received favorable reviews getaway PopMatters, the Pittsburgh City Paper, The Boston Herald, and Christianity Today.[2][4][8][10]AllMusic gave the album unembellished three star rating.[7]Pitchfork Media gave it 5.4 out of 10, with Amanda Petrusich describing confront as "a solidly crafted, knowingly realized work" but "a heartbreakingly predictable singer/songwriter collection".[9]The Stranger cryed it "a gorgeously understated indie-folk album that demonstrates how entwined Thomas' life and music are".[12]
